Wing Commander Wilgoss is right! We should have been playing there, not just watching and pondering the justice of it all.
Good news for Wing Co. though, he did win the Best Songwriter award, so maybe he'll restrain his grumbles, something I hope he won't stoop to because restraining ones grumbles is the just another way The Man is trying to shaft you. Every. Time.
I'm not going to go on about the result because I know how angry one of the judges was at the decision and that some of them were really trying to support good original music, but were thwarted by the minions of "Lowest Common Denominator." What can you do?
Top bands for me were Her Zombie Bones, who were robbed of the top spot, and Okra who should produce the arm out the window driving song of the century. Okra will be playing with us on the 28th of April and another gig beyond that. If anyone knows how to get hold of Her Zombie Bones, let me know.
In the immortal words of Alan Partridge:
"Twat! Liquid football."

Pete, we're playing on the 13th. Unless you have a gig with another Frictionless Man.....
Hi all. Dan from Okra here (i'm the bassist). I have just about woken up from a night of heavy drinking and dissertation completion at 6am! Randomly surfing the net and thought i'd have a look at your blog and thought it only proper to say thanks for the supportive comments about last night (frictionless people and pete). Feel bad for missing you guys heat now but have had a dissertation to deal with and hence have had no life of late, at least in a social sphere. Well done to Pete on his award and hard lines on frictionless man who i'm told were very unfortunate not to be in the final also. Looking forward to seeing you guys play- if i'm in swansea on the 13th i'll be there. Also, i agree, Niel LCJ is a good bloke, respect. Ironically, i live with the brass section from Settle for Less, but they've been really cool to us and are proper nice blokes so fair play, they did their thing and had fun and didn't expect to win at all so i'm pleased for them. I actually also enjoyed the esoterica although BOTB final wasn't the best scenario for them to be plying. More a small intimate venue with lots of red stripe being consumed. As for us we're all a bit disappointed but that's life. It also means that i can go to the download festival on the 10th of june (i am a complete metalhead), where i'll spend most of my time at the 'snickers stage' watching the likes of the mighty Mastodon and Unearth. I guess that doesn't sound appealing to anyone else does it?! Anyway, thanks again, what does the arm song thing mean?
Driving Music. You know, sunny day, window down, wind in your hair, Mexican border only ten miles away and fifty kilos of coke in the boot of the car - that piece of music.
Ahh. I just had visions of kids sticking their fingers up at people.
No, you guys are sexy, you big tease.
Cheers Adam Zombie, loved your stuff. We're doing a gig with LCJ in the Inferno on June 11th, come along and say howdy. I'll give you a ring and sort out some gigs. Would love to play in Llanelli.
Steer clear of the 'Kilkenny Kat' if it still exists; you don't want to be getting into a bout of Turkish fisticuffs with those unappreciative of your own unique brand of showmanship, eh 'Mr Frictionless'? Eh?....
What do you mean? How could they possibly not want me to sing Max Boyce songs in my Scarlets' shirt?
