More rehearsal this weekend. Now that we can get from one end of each song to the other in a convincing fashion and I can sing and play guitar competently at the same time while not falling over we have moved on to looking more closely at the instrumental parts in each song. These are a bit different to the usual "guitar solo" middle eight style parts, since we both have to work together to mingle the sounds of each instrument, rather like the left and right hands on a piano. I like working like this because it helps to make the melodic progressions and embellishments much more relevant to the piece as a whole than one of us going through a chord sequence whilst the other plays a few scales up and down and up and down. Of course it does not preclude the statement of new themes in a bold way, but it helps to maintain a family resemblance.
Other than that it has been a very quiet weekend, since we have no money we have not been out carousing. Instead we have watched more of the Winter Olympics. Sweden beat the USA in ice hockey, 2-1. There, it is almost as if you had been there yourself. And it has been snowing a lot so the outdoor events have been called off. For some reason it seems strange that all these sports which require snow for people to perform them also require that it is not snowing when you're doing it. Imagine going on on a skiing holiday and not being able to ski because it is snowing. Ha ha ha ha it's funny because I can't afford to go skiing. Ha ha ha ha ha ahah ha haaaa.
Exploits of the Frictionless Man as it wanders around the world like some kind of slippery hydra. Music, words and pictures a speciality.

Pah! Skiing is over-rated.
There's the snow-blindness, and the cold, and the frost bite, and the fear and the gnawing hunger and having to eat roast husky just to survive...
You're confused; you're thinking of Blackpool.
